Opposition protestors, young and old, gather at the December 24, 2011, protest against Putin policy and alleged election fraud on Academic Sakharov Avenue in Moscow during the largest opposition rally in modern Russia. After the December 4, 2011, vote for parliament, supposed election fraud has helped propel the pro-opposition movement in Russia that has made use of social media by bloggers and other journalists using Twitter, Facebook and the Russian social networking site Contact. People have been speaking out and taking part in protests that are larger than any other anti-government gathering since the nineties.
