Russian Opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, is released from prison during a blizzard in the early morning hours of December 21, 2011 after being arrested two weeks prior for protesting the election fraud associated with the December 4th parliamentary elections . Navalny, now famously, said, “I went to jail in one country and came out in another.” He was referring to the quickly increasing momentum of opposition and protest to Putin policy and alleged election fraud. Navalny, an anti-corruption lawyer, has been pro opposition for a number of years and is now seizing his moment.
